Benjamin Tal

Benjamin Tal is the Chief Economist and a member of the CIBC economic team that is responsible for analyzing macro economic developments and their implications for fixed income, equity, foreign exchange and commodities markets. He also acts in an advisory capacity to bank officers on issues related to wealth management, household credit and risk, and corporate credit and risk. Well-known for his ground-breaking published research on topics such as labour market dynamics, real estate, credit markets, international trade and business economic conditions, Benjamin not only contributes to the conversation but also frequently sets the agenda. Benjamin has close to 20 years of experience in the private sector advising clients, industry leaders, corporate boards, trade associations and governments on economic and financial issues. He is also a regular commentator in the media.

Mark McGrath is a Financial Planner & Associate Portfolio Manager with PWL Capital Inc. Since joining the financial industry in 2009, he has worked with over 500 medical students, residents, and practicing physicians on all aspects of their financial lives, including tax planning, investment management, retirement planning, insurance and risk planning, and estate planning. He has written dozens of articles about personal finance, is the co-host of the Rational Reminder Podcast, and is co-author of the new book “Wealthier: The Investing Field Guide for Canadian Millennials” with NYT bestselling author Dan Solin. When not reading or writing about personal finance, he enjoys playing strategy games with his wife and young children and playing guitar.


Dr. Shirin Dason

Money & Parenthood: Finances in Family Planning, Building & Parenting - 2:00 PM to 3:15 PM EST

Dr. Shirin Dason completed both her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and her GREI Fellowship at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Toronto. She is a sought-after instructor and mentor, delivering lectures, workshops and seminars annually. Dr. Dason is “particularly passionate about fertility education”, specifically, advocacy to improve family planning education among physicians and improved education within the sexual health curriculum in high schools. In addition, she has a keen interest in teaching medical students and learners about the social justice and advocacy issues associated with becoming a physician, and she believes in encouraging all learners to reflect on these aspects of health as they approach any medical problem.


Noa Weingarten

Noa is an experienced lawyer specializing in family law, corporate law, and wills and estates. As a sole practitioner with experience serving physicians, she offers tailored legal guidance to meet their unique professional needs. Off-duty, you will find her exploring the world through scuba diving, rock climbing, and backpacking.


Dr. Stephanie Zhou

Dr. Stephanie Zhou practices Addictions Medicine at Sunnybrook Hospital and is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine. She teaches the Financial Literacy Curriculum for both medical students and residents. She has been a guest lecturer on financial literacy at McMaster, Queen's, McGill, uOttawa, Western and Dalhousie. Stephanie is a strong advocate for equalizing student knowledge when it comes to personal finance and managing debt. She began by giving “Affording Medical School” webinars to the Community of Support students before expanding these lectures to a four-year curriculum. She has worked on the UofT Boundless Fundraising Campaign, raising over $180,000 for needs-based scholarships and sits on the Financial Aid Committee. She runs a financial education blog on Instagram and Youtube called Breaking Bad Debt.
